Some of the helpful free online resources I use … these are not specific to WP …

- brokenlinkcheck.com: Checks my websites for dead links. The free version has a limit of 3000 posts/pages – but that’s more than enough to cover my biggest site. It has no limit on the number of links within those pages, and handles both internal and external links. If it finds any broken links, it shows me the exact link and location to be fixed. I also use this after purging my LiteSpeed cache, to ensure all my pages/posts are re-cached (I think it works for that).
- pixabay.com: Free (CC0) images.
- jitbit.com/sslcheck: Check my site for unsecure content. Crawls the entire HTTPS site. The number of pages/posts crawled is limited to 400 per website.
- ssllabs.com/ssltest: Performs a deep analysis of the SSL configuration of my web server.
- WebPageTest.org: My favorite site speed checker. Very configurable, and provides the median result of up to nine test runs.
- dotcom-tools.com/website-speed-test: Another site speed checker. Checks from multiple locations around the world.
- loadimpact.com: Runs a three-minute load test, ramping up to 25 simultaneous users. It promises to alert me of any performance issues such as bottlenecks.
- archive.org: This is the famous Wayback Machine. It somewhat randomly takes and preserves snapshots of my site. This is useful for nostalgia but also as an emergency, far-from-perfect, last-resort partial backup.
- sitecheck.sucuri.net and quttera.com: Online malware and blacklist checkers.
