I think this is pretty funny – iThemes Security Review | Sucuri, and Sucuri Video Review: Cory Miller, CEO of iThemes (screen shot below).

iThemes, led by founder and CEO Cory Miller, develops software for the WordPress community. Its products include the free plugin iThemes Security and the commercial plugin iThemes Security Pro, both of which iThemes somewhat wordily describes as “The Best WordPress Security Plugin to Secure & Protect WordPress”.
So, if it really is “The Best”, why does iThemes pay Sucuri to secure its own WP website?
Disclaimer – I have not personally used iThemes or Sucuri so I can’t comment knowledgeably about either. I tried Wordfence briefly – long enough to validate my suspicion that it is not for me. In general, I not a fan of all-in-one security solutions. I prefer to use defense-in-depth, a Kursk vs. Maginot Line approach, if you will.
However, that is not to say an all-in-one security solution is not for you. Wordfence in particular is very widely used and trusted. It is recommended by many experts. It is not for me, but I believe it to be a valid security solution for most WP users, who value its relatively headache-free set-it-and-mostly-forget-it convenience. On the other hand if you are a fan of iThemes or Sucuri or some other all-in-one solution – by all means use what works for you.
